Overview:

Our certified welders and applicators completed welding and painting tasks at the APC site, ensuring top-notch quality and precision.

Project:

Supplying 24″ welded carbon steel pipes with flanges, accessories, and painting works.

1- Supplying:

Kinetics provided 3 km of 24” pipes, flanges, bolts, and nuts adhering to the following standards:

  • Pipes: 24” LSAW carbon steel, ASTM A53.GR.B, SCH.30, 11.8m length. Delivered grit blasted and coated with a two-component polyamide primer containing zinc phosphate (DFF 50 Micron) at the original mill.
  • Flanges: Slip-on RF flanges, ASTM A105, ANSI B16.5 class 150 (2 flanges per pipe).
  • Bolts: Stainless steel, ASTM A193, Grade B8, hex head bolts M30X185mm, with stainless steel A194 Grade 8 nuts.
  • Gaskets: 1/8 Inch, RF (Ring Type) as per ASME B16.21, 24” Class 150.

2- Welding Works:

Pipe flange joints were connected using the Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) method. Fillet and back welds ensured strong, secure joints. Each weld underwent rigorous inspection before, during, and after welding using Penetration Testing to ensure quality and integrity.

3- Painting Works:

The pipes received a thorough blasting and a three-layer epoxy coating, totaling DFT 400 Micron:

  • Primer: Two-component epoxy polyamide with zinc phosphate, DFT 50 Micron.
  • Intermediate Coat: Two-component high-build polyamide epoxy, DFT 100 Micron.
  • Top Coat: Two-component high-build polyamide cured epoxy, DFT 250 Micron.
